Have you been looking for a medical practitioner who would get to the root cause of your health challenges?
My practice combines East Asian Medicine, Foundational Medicine and Neuro-Acupuncture to help you get your health back so you can enjoy your life fully.

FEEL HEALTHY AND STRONG AGAIN

If you keep suppressing the symptoms rather than addressing the root cause of your health problems you risk:

Never becoming fully aware of what is happening in your body.

Becoming trapped in a cycle of chronic pain and inflammation.

Procrastinating a chance to build deeper health and well-being.

An opportunity to better know your-self and your body.

Ignoring your fears and not taking action.

More serious health issues as you age.

Recurrence of your symptoms and pains.

Injuries that don’t fully heal.

I’m here to help you restore your health and address the root problems to ensure long lasting improvements in your life.

Heal the roots and the whole plant will thrive.

Finding a health care practitioner who truly listens to you and understands how to find the root causes of health imbalances can be a challenge in our rapid-paced world. So often, we are shuttled in and out of treatment rooms without really receiving any answers or feeling like we are going to improve our health.

To help you restore your health I combine East Asian Medicine, Foundational Medicine, and Neuro-Acupuncture. This gives me a choice of unique treatment modalities along side with traditional acupuncture and cupping that are best suited to help you feel better and address the root cause at the same time. I’m able to combine ancient Chinese wisdom with modern scientific information to come up with an effective treatment plan that is unique to you.

Working with me means being treated as an individual who is heard and seen and understood for being a unique human with distinct concerns and dreams.

HUMAN HEALTH IS COMPLEX

It’s not just needles & moxa…

NEURO-ACUPUNCTURE

Neuro-acupuncture provides safe and effective treatment for complex neurological conditions.

Neuro-acupuncture is an advanced skill, most effective in treating acute and chronic central nervous system disorders. Often, just a few needles produces remarkable results. TBI, post concussion syndrome, PTSD, anxiety, depression, ADHD, Bell’s Palsy, and Chronic Regional Pain Syndrome are some of my specialties.

I choose Neuro-acupuncture as my primary tool because it is safe and effective in treatment of complex neurological conditions.

This modern development of acupuncture stimulates the brain to build new neural pathways while decreasing neuro-inflammation and restoring brain function. Neuro-acupuncture works via neuroplasticity or brain repair. It helps recruit healthy cells to rebuild, rewire, restore and reconnect damaged nerve cells via needle stimulation in the scalp. Recovery takes time; speed of recovery depends on the length of the condition as well as age/general health of the patient. Two to three treatments a week is recommended; ten treatments constitutes one course of treatment. Treatment frequency may change depending on progress. It takes 3 years of training to become fully certified in neuro-acupuncture. Currently there are less than 100 fully trained neuro-acupuncturists in the U.S. The training has been developed and refined by Drs. Jason and Linda Hao.

ADDITIONAL MODALITIES

Multi-disciplinary approach is often the missing key.

Foundational Medicine

Foundational Medicine is a bio-scientific approach of looking at the whole body as a system. We start at the foundation for treatment for everyone - improving health at the cellular level and opening all of the body's pathways for clearing and cleansing and building healthy tissues. Foundational Medicine focuses on rebuilding the terrain of the body first, so that more targeted treatments can have greater effect.

Neuro-Acupuncture

Amber specializes in neurological disorders, and neuro-acupuncture is her prime treatment method. This modern development of acupuncture stimulates the brain to build new neural pathways while decreasing neuro-inflammation and restoring brain function. Neuro-acupuncture is a valuable tool for any neurological/brain-related issue including traumatic brain injury, behavioral health concerns, stroke, post-traumatic stress disorder, etc.

Women’s Health

Amber offers services for all stages of a woman’s life including fertility, pregnancy, birth preparation, labor and delivery, post-partum, peri/post menopause and all the cycles in between. Whether you are trying to increase your vitality for a healthy pregnancy, treating common challenges we encounter while pregnant, preparing for the birth itself or rebuilding your body postpartum, maintain hormonal balance during menopause, or treat another gynecological issue, Amber has medicine for you.

East Asian Medicine

Amber has studied with some of the best teachers from China and Japan to learn a variety of treatment methods for different situations and individuals. This includes different forms of acupuncture, moxibustion, cupping, gua sha, bodywork, diet and other modalities. Amber chooses from a multitude of modalities to devise your individualized treatment plan.

Functional Medicine

Using a different lens, Amber can delve into the root causes of your health issues by exploring physiological reasons for your health issues and treating them with tools such as herbs, supplements, lifestyle and dietary changes.

Herbal Medicine

Chinese Herbal formulas have been used for centuries to treat everything from the common cold to bleeding disorders.  Herbal medicine can be used alone or in conjunction with acupuncture treatments and foundational medicine. Unlike many prescription drugs, Chinese Herbs address both the symptoms and the cause of the disease. We use only the highest quality of herbs that are independently tested for quality assurance, with a focus on herbs grown locally.

Hi, I’m Amber 🙂

I know what it is like to feel lost in searching for the answers to a health issues.

I have spent the last 21 years of my life studying different forms of healing and medicine, in part because I could not find a practitioner who listened to me or knew how to help me. I have healed myself from chronic pain, digestive disorders, environmental illness and autoimmunity by diligently studying and seeking out the best treatment modalities that I could find.

Along the way, I have discovered a deep fascination with the human body and our relationship between physical, emotional and spiritual health. I have learned ancient tools of Chinese Medicine and modern tools of Western diagnostic medicine. I have learned the importance of expressing emotions and processing emotions in a variety of ways in our lives. I have learned the impact that our diet has on our well-being. I have learned the importance of being aware of and redirecting our brain processes.

After graduating from Chinese Medicine school, I was inspired to continue my training in neuro-acupuncture with Drs. Jason and Linda Hao because I witnessed the profound effect that neuro-acupuncture can have on the lives of those with central nervous system disorders. I have also studied Functional Medicine with Functional Medicine University and I study Foundational Medicine with the Drs. at Cellcore Biosciences.

In my work as a practitioner, I offer this knowledge to you guiding you on your own wellness journey in the hopes that it helps you find your way on your path.

Most recently, I opened Paonia Apothecary! My goal is to bring local and herbal medicine back to the forefront of how we think about healthcare.

3 ways to protect your brain from daily stress by savoring positive emotions

If you spend time each day paying attention to what is going well in your life, you will notice feeling more relaxed and, generally, happier. Science actually shows that focusing on the positive aspects of our lives has a positive effect on our brain. Perspective shift can have a tremendous impact on our brain health.A new study shows that maintaining sustained activity in a brain region called the ‘ventral striatum’, is directly linked to maintaining a positive emotional mindset. People with more sustained levels of activity in their ventral striatum directly report higher levels of psychological ‘well-being’ and lower levels of the stress hormone cortisol

HOW TO HACK YOUR SLEEP FOR A MORE RESILIENT BRAIN

Sleep is as important to a human body as food and water. We spend about 1/3 of our lives asleep. Sleep affects every system in the body, including the brain. Your brain uses the time that you are asleep to ‘clean’ up tissues, essentially removing toxins and cellular debris so that your brain can function properly when awake. Researchers still have not uncovered all of the functions of our sleep but have shown that if we do not get enough sleep over time, or too much sleep, we increase our risk for chronic health issues such as diabetes, heart disease, and depression.

INCREASE YOUR BRAIN’S CAPACITY TO LEARN AND MANAGE STRESS IN 7 MINUTES: 3 WORKOUTS TO ELEVATE YOUR BRAIN

When we exercise, we encourage synaptic plasticity – which is the basis for being able to learn new things. Exercise also spurs the development of NEW nerve cells from stem cells in the hippocampus. New nerve cells can become whatever we ‘put our mind to’ - literally. Neurons differentiate according to what the brain is being asked to do. The classic ‘use it or lose it’ axiom holds true with brain neurons. If you want to increase your brain activity in a certain way, you have to exercise your brain in that way. Exercise supports your brain’s ability to build the tools you need in order to learn new things and manage stress.
